If you're not a big reader...here was my oh so favorite part:
If you have polycystic ovary disease, you are likely to have some of the following symptoms:
- Abnormal, irregular, or very light or infrequent menstrual periods
- Absent periods, usually (but not always) after having one or more normal menstrual periods during puberty (secondary amenorrhea)
- Acne that gets worse
- Decreased breast size
- Development of male sex characteristics (virilization), such as increased body hair, facial hair, a deepening of the voice, male-pattern baldness, and enlargement of the clitoris
- Diabetes
- Increased hair growth; body hair may be in a male pattern
- Infertility
- Poor response to the hormone, insulin (insulin resistance), leading to a build-up of insulin in the blood
- Weight gain, or obesity
Oh boy oh boy! Sound like a blast right? I found a book that had good ratings to see if it could give me a little more information:
A Patient's Guide to PCOS: Understanding--and Reversing--Polycystic Ovary Syndrome by Walter Futterweit
~Amazon.com
When you read into the book it talks about how women with PCOS have a higher rate of miscarriage. I was ready to put the book down after that. Miscarriage was the last thing I wanted to think about. But it also went through different scenarios of women who have dealt with PCOS while trying to conceive. It has a diet plan and exercise routine. I have found it to be quite helpful after all.
At this point in the process I thought all we would do was start some medicine and BAM! Pregnant! Little did I know about what was in store for us...
